Developer Oxalis Games has officially set Spring 2025 as the Early Access launch timeframe for their life sim farming RPG Moonfrost, making the web3 game publicly available for everyone to jump in and enjoy without needing to receive an alpha code.
Will There Be Moonfrost Alpha Release 6 (AR6)?
No, the team has decided to cancel launching Alpha Release 6 in favor of focusing on the Early Access launch while giving players more time to enjoy the 5th alpha version of this beautiful cozy game. Up to now, the studio has been publishing a new build every 6-8 weeks, resetting player progression for each new alpha launch. Following internal discussions, and thanks to community feedback, the developers have decided to change how they release new alpha versions, opting to instead give players more time to fully enjoy the current one as they work on the big public release.
This means that everyone who has access to Alpha Release 5 (AR5), which launched mid-December 2024, can continue to play throughout the entirety of February 2025, so you have much more time to finish all the tasks from the main storyline.
Since there won't be a 6th alpha release, the team is updating AR5 by introducing a new feature: fishing! According to the January update post, you won't need to do fishing for any tasks in this release, nor does it impact player progression yet. By by testing out the feature while this version of the game is still open, you will be getting first-hand experience with the new feature while having the chance to provide useful feedback to help the team improve the feature and make it an enjoyable part of core gameplay in the future. To unlock fishing in this release, you will need to unlock the Fishing Gnome or become a Frost Hunter License holder.
If you complete all of the main story quests in AR5, you will now receive an exclusive reward: a special Fishing Gnome Blueprint. This is a permanent unique item tied to your account, so you get to keep it even after AR5 ends. It won't be available ever again, so make sure to get it while you still can if you want to have the Fishing Gnome in the official release!
A new time-limited event called House Hunters is also live, so if you like getting creative and making cool builds, then you'll definitely want to take part in these contests that are regularly hosted in-game. Each time you participate in such a contest, the game takes you to a separate area where you can use all of the blueprints you've collected so far without needing to craft anything. This area won't be accessible after the particular contest is over, and you will have to use the in-game photo function to submit your build. Rank high enough to win various rewards such as Craftcoins. You also get to vote after submissions close, so long as you entered the event. Voting a certain number of builds is actually rewarded with more Craftcoins.

What New Features Are Coming to Moonfrost Early Access?
The Early Access launch of Moonfrost is set to feature a couple of new updates to enhance the core gameplay experience that everyone can enjoy regardless of whether they're interested in blockchain gaming or not.
For this upcoming launch, the fishing feature will consist of one type of rod for players to use in catching 3 categories of fish and new items as well. The game will be updated over time to include new rods, new fish, and new bait. For now, the developers are experimenting with fishing mechanics, offering the community to vote between 2 different fishing styles to help the team choose which one to move with forwards.
There are also plans to introduce cooking, where you won't be relying on any recipe hand-holding like you currently do with decorations. Instead, players will need to experiment, uncovering and collecting various new ingredients to combine in order to see if anything unique comes out of it.
Before this release goes live, the team plans on launching a whitepaper and roadmap to give players an idea of how the web3 economy will work.
