Star Atlas is a VR-enabled, grand strategy space exploration game that includes space and land-based mining activities, territorial control, PvP combat, and a dynamic career structure with specialised equipment. Real-time graphics technology based on Unreal Engine 5's Nanite enables cinematic-quality video game imagery while incorporating blockchain technology to create an immersive 3D virtual meta-universe.

Playing instrction

The game is set in 2620, and in this distant future, three major factions emerge:(1)The MUD Territory governed by humankind, (2)The ONI Region as a consortium of alien races, and (3)The Ustur Sector controlled by sentient androids. These factions are engaged in a battle for resources, regional conquest, and political dominance. Players can select their preferred faction and profession which includes CEO, agent, bounty hunter, pirate,etc, to start their journey.

Gamers generally begin by mining, collecting minerals, and then constructing facilities. Then they finish the tasks aboard the ship and can participate in combat. Additionally, they can also build their own space cities, city-states, etc, and they will be awarded if their cities upgrade.

NFTs and Defi system

Star Atlas used a two-coin scheme for the in-game economy, issuing Atlas and Polis tokens. Atlas is the game currency, which is gained mostly by completing tasks in the game and is also consumed in the game. Polis is a governance token with max supply of 360,000,000, and its holders can engage in game governance. The distribution of Polis is decided and will be unlocked later.

Additionally, the use of NFTs gained and sold within Star Atlas provides an economy that mimics the tangibility of real-world goods and ownership. Players can earn NFTs via in-game missions, duels, pre-selling programmes,etc. NFTs facilities can be utilised as mining equipment, which can subsequently be used to create assets that can be bought and sold. And all in-game transactions are supported and authenticated by Solana.

Furthermore, DeFi directly integrated into game interface via Serum, enabling players to make profit. For example, gamers can lend their tokens to other players in exchange for interest, or mortgage their land for ATLAS tokens, which can be exchanged for fiat money.
