Game Overview

DeFi Kingdoms (DFK) is a game, a decentralized exchange (DEX), a liquidity pool (LP) opportunity, and a market of rare utility-driven NFTs, that all plays out seamlessly in the incredibly nostalgic form of fantasy pixel art.

Playing Instruction

It's free to start playing, but you pay gas fees if you interact with the blockchain.The game is built on the Harmony Protocol blockchain with its native coin One, and all transactions in game are with the native token JEWEL.

Get started in five steps:

1. Sign up for the MetaMask wallet, which is required for gameplay.

2. Deposit Harmony One tokens into wallet to cover gas fees and swap for in-game currency JEWEL.

3. Go to the DeFi Kingdom's site and select Start Playing.

4. Create a character name and select a profile image.

5. Play by choosing where to invest time, energy and JEWEL.

Much of the gameplay in DeFi Kingdoms is centered around Heroes, the utility-based NFTs that can gather resources with Professions and will eventually be able to participate in combat quests and even PVP.

To buy the Hero NFTs in DeFi Kingdoms, go to the Tavern and talk to the NPC Agent Selina to buy, sell or rent heroes.

Selecting Buy Heroes to view NFT heroes for sale in the in-game marketplace. The characters' information is displayed on the front and back of the cards, including stats, classes, skills, level, gender and more. Filters within the hero marketplace help you narrow your search.

To buy other NFTs available in the game, talk to Trader Zada, located in the Marketplace.

Heroes in DeFi Kingdom come with multiple stats that are key in the game:

• Hit Points (HP): A hero's health, which requires rest to restore.
• Mana Points (MP): Used to cast spells and skills. If MP reaches zero, the hero can't use more until they consume a potion.
• Stamina: Required to participate in quests and restores automatically over time.
• Strength: Adds a multiplier to attacks and certain actions.
• Dexterity: Modifies attack damage for specific weapons.
• Agility: Influences evasion and speed.
• Vitality: Affects HP growth.
• Endurance: Increases defense.
• Intelligence: Provides multipliers to skills, magic, and evasion.
• Wisdom: Boosts multipliers for magic skills and attacks, and determines MP gain when leveling up.
• Luck: Improves critical hit chances, increases the likelihood of obtaining rare items, and slightly enhances evasion in combat.

How do I summon a new Hero?

If you have two heroes, you can go to the Portal and summon another one. You will need some JEWEL and at least 20 Gaia's Tears.

If you only have one hero, you can rent one from another player at the Portal to assist in the summoning process.

To summon, two heroes must visit the Arch Druid and infuse a Summoning Crystal with their combined essence. Infused Crystals are then used at the Portal to seek Heroes from far away lands that are in tune with the heroes that infused the crystal.

Summoning with Heroes that have the appropriate genes can result in genetic mutation that results in a higher ranked Hero being Summoned from the Portal. The chart above displays the genetic combinations needed to Summon each possible Hero class.

Heroes of higher rank have better starting stats and stat growth parameters than those of ranks below them. However, a side effect of their advanced abilities is that they require more Gaia's Tears to perform a Summon than Heroes of lower ranks.

• Basic Classes: Warrior, Knight, Thief, Archer, Priest, Wizard, Monk, Pirate.
• Advanced Classes: Paladin, Dark Knight, Summoner, Ninja.
• Elite Classes: Dragoon, Sage.
• Exalted Class: DreadKnight.

The rarity level of a Summoned Hero is impacted by the rarity of the two Heroes used to infuse the Summoning Crystal.

The following symbols appear in the center of your Hero's card, indicating their rarity level.

Heroes can increase their stats by leveling up. To level up, a Hero must first have accumulated enough experience from their adventures. Once they have done that, they visit the Meditation Circle, and spend a certain number of runes and JEWEL based on their level. They also have the option to use an attunement crystal while leveling up, which will increase the success rate for certain stat increases.

Attunement Crystals can be used during leveling at the Meditation Circle to provide an increased chance for growth in a specific stat. Only one Attunement Crystal may be used during a single leveling ritual. Attunement Crystals are consumed on use.

Atonement Crystals are an item created to make players whole if and when bugs are found in the leveling process that impact Hero stat gains. Atonement Crystals are provided by airdrop to players who owned impacted Heroes the time that they were leveled, even if that Hero has since been sold or transferred.

DeFi Kingdom Profession Quests

Each profession comes with an associated skill, and the more a hero works at a specific profession quest, the higher the skill increases. Heroes that complete profession quests that correlate with their genes can earn more rewards and cost less stamina per quest.

Gardeners: wisdom and vitality. Gardening takes place in your own garden primarily and increases the growth of the Jewel plants. Gardening increases the gardening skill, which leads to more rewards and a better chance of finding other resources.

Foragers: dexterity and intelligence. This Profession sends the hero out into the woods to see what they can find. There's a stamina cost and minimum time per attempt. A hero with Foraging as a main profession spells less stamina per attempt. Multiple heroes can be sent out to forge at one time.

Fishers: agility and luck. Fishing costs stamina, and minimum time per attempt. Increasing your hero's fishing skill results in a higher chance of getting better and more fish per attempt. You can also select fish to make potions.

Jewel miners: strength and endurance (in beta). Send characters to Jewel mines to find Jewel, Gold or rarer treasures. You can send up to six heroes at one time. Going to the Jewel mines increases a hero's mining skill, which allows them to mine longer without having to rest. If a hero reaches zero stamina, the quest ends. You're also required to select a Lead Miner, which determines the payout of the quest.

Gold miners: strength and endurance. To mine Gold, players can send a group of one to six heroes to get Gold or rarer treasures. If a hero reaches zero stamina, the quest ends. The Gold you get is determined by the hero's strength and endurance stats and whether its main profession is mining. Heroes have a chance of mining Gaia's Tears, Shvās Runes and Yellow Eggs.

DeFi Kingdom Training Quests

Training quests are a different kind of activity that Heroes can perform. Like the profession quests, training quests do not require equipment. However, unlike the profession quests, they do have a chance of failure.

There are eight training quests available to heroes, each corresponding to one of the eight main stats of a Hero. These are arm wrestling (STR), darts (DEX), game of ball (AGI), dancing (END), helping the farms (VIT), alchemist assistance (INT), puzzle solving (WIS), and card game (LCK). Training quests are instantaneous quests, meaning that they require an upfront cost of stamina and result in receiving some reward after a short period of time.

Each Trainer specializes in a specific discipline (Stat). The Hero competes against the Trainer in their specific discipline. Once the Hero grows too strong in that specific stat they can surpass their Trainer and will be encouraged to seek a stronger trainer elsewhere (tier 2 training quest).

When a training attempt is successful, the Hero receives a flat amount of Gold and a roll for a Shvās rune, an lesser attunement crystal, and a Page of the Eternal Story. NOTE: Unsuccessful attempts do not receive any of these rolls.

Each Training Quest attempt consumes 5 stamina. You can perform up to 5 attempts per transaction and up to 6 Heroes per transaction. Each Hero must be able to perform the same number of attempts when grouped.

DeFi Kingdom Pets

Heroes can sometimes find eggs on their quests. Pets are an NFT that can be hatched from pet eggs. These pets can accompany Heroes on their adventures.

To hatch a pet, players must bring their eggs to the Hatchery. The costs for hatching an egg are both time, some in-game resources, and JEWEL. Three different price options will be offered to players. The options provide a decreased incubation time, and better chances at getting shiny and higher rarity pets. Some costs are egg-type dependent.

Kingdoms

Kingdoms, or land plots, are an additional kind of NFT that is limited in quantity and highly collectable. As the world map is revealed, players will be able to acquire plots of land where buildings can be constructed, and transactions and quests can take place. Land owners will receive a portion of the revenue generated on their plots!

DeFi Kingdoms:Crystalvale

Crystalvale, the name of the new environment, currently has the same core play-to-earn features as the original environment, Serendale, except set in an icy mountain setting. Within the game, users can travel from own realm to the other via “docks” and “ships”. This is just one example of how DeFi Kingdoms gamifies elements of DeFi—in this case, the previously ordinary experience of switching your hot wallet from one chain to another.

Main World Map Features:

• Jeweler: Players can stake their tokens.
• Marketplace: Allows players to swap tokens, create LP tokens, and buy or sell in-game items.
• Gardens: Players can deposit and manage their liquidity pools (LPs).
• Docks: Enables players to bridge tokens and travel to Serendale.
• The Cradle: A mysterious, dragon-guarded goosepen with a large crystal at its core. (Purpose and backstory remain unknown.)

Crystalvale will have its own limited series of Gen 0 Hero NFTs, introducing new genes and classes that are unique to Crystalvale. More Quests, resources and features are also included. You can, in turn, use and level up these Hero NFTs to earn CRYSTAL tokens.

In-Game Economy

DeFi Kingdoms is built on the Harmony blockchain with its native coin One, and all transactions in the game are with the native token JEWEL.

JEWEL is a governance and ulility token, meaning it's used for voting on the development and evolution of DeFi Kingdoms, can be used for staking, added to liquidity pools, and used to make multiple in-game purchases. The supply is limited to 500 million.

How to Earn JEWEL?

• Swap: Exchange tokens using the in-game Trader.
• Garden: Stake liquidity provider (LP) tokens to earn JEWEL or other rewards. Some rewards can be harvested immediately, while others are locked for a period of time.
• Jeweler: Stake JEWEL tokens for rewards. Deposit JEWEL for xJEWEL, which grows over time. Withdraw or deposit anytime without fees.
• Heroes: Buy, sell, rent, or breed heroes to trade in the marketplace.
• Professions: Send heroes on passive quests to earn rewards.
• Land and Buildings (Coming Soon): Players will be able to buy plots and construct buildings.

What is CRYSTAL?

CRYSTAL is the value token of Crystalvale, powering its economy.

• How to Earn CRYSTAL: Single-stake JEWEL tokens bridged from Harmony.
• Uses: Summoning, purchasing in-game NFTs, and more.
• Supply: 125,000,000 total tokens.

Jeweler vs. Gardens

• Jeweler: Single-staking pool for JEWEL or CRYSTAL, rewarding users with xJEWEL or xCRYSTAL. These tokens increase in value over time, ensuring withdrawals yield more than the initial deposit.
• Gardens: Stake LP tokens to earn JEWEL or CRYSTAL rewards.

JEWEL/CRYSTAL vs. xJEWEL/xCRYSTAL

• JEWEL and CRYSTAL: Primary tokens used for transactions and gameplay.
• xJEWEL and xCRYSTAL: Governance tokens earned by staking, allowing participation in votes, airdrops, and community rewards.

DeFi Kingdoms Decentralized Exchange (DEX)

• Serendale's DEX: Trades JEWEL, ONE, and Harmony-based tokens.
• Crystalvale's DEX: Trades CRYSTAL, AVAX, and DFK Chain tokens using Avalanche's subnet technology.

Players can swap tokens at the marketplace, add liquidity to pools, and earn fees or incentives when staking LP tokens in Gardens.

DeFi Kingdoms Blockchain (DFK Chain)

• Custom Blockchain for Crystalvale: Built in partnership with Avalanche using subnets.
• Gas Fees: Paid in JEWEL for simplified transactions.

Gas Fee Distribution:

• 25% to validators to decentralize the chain.
• 50% burned to reduce supply and increase JEWEL’s value.
• 25% to the Quest Fund for player rewards.

Bridged JEWEL for Gas: Automatically converted for use on DFK Chain, requiring no extra steps for players.

How to Get Started

Embark on your journey in DeFi Kingdoms by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Register for the MetaMask Wallet

To play DeFi Kingdoms, you'll need to register for a MetaMask wallet. MetaMask is a digital wallet that allows you to interact with the Ethereum blockchain and its compatible networks.

Step 2: Deposit Harmony One Tokens

Once you have your MetaMask wallet set up, deposit Harmony One tokens into it. These tokens will be used to cover gas costs for transactions within the game.

Step 3: Exchange Harmony One Tokens for JEWEL

Next, exchange your Harmony One tokens for the in-game currency, JEWEL. This currency is used for various transactions and activities within DeFi Kingdoms.

Step 4: Visit the DeFi Kingdoms Website

Go to the DeFi Kingdoms website and click on the "Start Playing" button. This will take you to the game interface.

Step 5: Create Your Character

Create a character by choosing a name and a profile image. This character will represent you in the game.
